When we heard that Sesame Street Live! Elmo's Got the Moves was making a stop in Ringgold, GA, we knew we had to make the trip. We've done Sesame Street Live before — last year's show in Augusta was a hit — so expectations were high. Spoiler: this one delivered.
Here's everything you need to know as a parent before you go.
What Is Elmo's Got the Moves?
This is a brand-new Sesame Street Live production from Round Room Live, and the premise is exactly what it sounds like: Elmo loves to dance, and he's bringing all of his Sesame Street friends along to celebrate movement, music, and fun. The show features all the classic characters your kids love — Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster, and more — performing fan-favorite songs in an interactive, high-energy live format.

What We Loved
The dancing is the heart of it. If your child loves music and movement, this show was practically built for them. There's a short, simple dance routine — just a few steps — that keeps coming back throughout the show, and kids in the audience absolutely locked in on it. Our little one was on her feet doing the moves right along with the characters, which is exactly the kind of magic you hope for at a live show.
Cookie Monster's Cha Cha Cha was a surprise hit. We did not expect our toddler to come home singing "Cha Cha Cha," but here we are. That bit was genuinely funny for adults too — a nice moment where everyone in the room was laughing together.
The ASL interpreters were a wonderful touch — at this show. The Ringgold performance featured two local ASL interpreters who signed the entire show, and it was wonderful to watch. We use sign language at home to help with communication, so seeing so many familiar signs woven naturally into a live performance was a really special bonus. Worth noting: these were local interpreters arranged for this particular venue, not part of the traveling production itself, so availability will vary by location. If ASL accessibility is important to your family, it's worth checking with your specific venue ahead of time.
The volunteers and staff were genuinely warm. Everyone working the show — from ticket takers to ushers — seemed to genuinely enjoy being there. The energy from the staff matched the excitement of the kids, and that matters more than people realize.
The venue was easy — and parking was free. The Colonnade Center in Ringgold is straightforward to get to, and parking is free on site. The space felt manageable and not overwhelming for young kids. The Ringgold area also has plenty of fast food and restaurants nearby, so we grabbed an early dinner before the show and made a full evening of it. If you're making the drive, that's a great strategy.
What to Know Before You Go
Total show time is about 90 minutes including a 20-minute intermission. The intermission is the trickiest part with toddlers — our 3-year-old has been to a few shows now and still isn't totally sure what to make of the pause. If your little one struggles with "wait, why did it stop?", just be prepared with some distraction. It passes quickly.
Sensory considerations: The show has music at a solid volume and bright lighting. At the Ringgold performance, there was also a confetti and smoke/fog effect at the end — a fun surprise, but worth a heads-up if your child is sensitive to either. These effects may vary by venue and location, so if it's a concern, check with your specific theater in advance.
Merchandise is available but it's a small, manageable table of plushes and show items — nothing overwhelming. Typical live show prices, so budget accordingly if you want to grab something.

The Verdict
10 out of 10, would go back immediately. This show hit every note for our family — the music, the dancing, the characters, and the overall warmth of the experience. If your kids are Sesame Street fans, it's absolutely worth the trip.
Want to See It? The Tour Keeps Going
The Sandy Springs, GA date is sold out, but don't count this tour out just yet. Elmo's Got the Moves is currently making its way through Tennessee and the Carolinas this week before heading out west — and then it's coming back to the region this fall, with dates in the Carolinas and Johnson City, TN in October. If you're looking for a reason to plan a fall weekend getaway, this could be it. Pair it with some leaf peeping or a new town to explore and you've got yourself a whole family adventure.
